THE WYCHWOOD STUDIES

000These paintings are improvisations based on the patterns and irregularities
of the bark of individual trees encountered on Barnett's daily walks through
Toronto's Wychwood Park, a densely wooded private residential area, originally
founded as an artists' colony in the late nineteenth century. He was particularly
struck by the suggested musicality of their variation, their endless similarity,
and all without repetition.
